Beware of "Sunglass Syndrome" in Summer
Research suggests that there are two causes of "sunglasses syndrome": one is that the optical center distance of large frame sunglasses is greater than the distance between the pupils of normal adults' eyes. At this time, in order to see the target clearly, the eyes need to greatly strengthen the workload of regulating function. Over time, this can lead to the occurrence of sunglasses syndrome. The second physiological anatomy indicates that there is a small hole below the eye called the suborbital foramen, which contains an important nerve branch, the suborbital nerve of the trigeminal nerve. It is distributed in the skin and nose between mouth and eye cracks, responsible for sensory function. Due to the weight of sunglasses and the pressure of the lens ring on the infraorbital nerve, discomfort in the nerve distribution area can occur. As the wearing time prolongs, symptoms such as local skin numbness, dullness, sensory abnormalities, and visual fatigue can occur.
To prevent sunglasses syndrome, one should choose and use sunglasses correctly and reasonably, rather than choosing large frame glasses. Because most of these frames are imported and designed based on the face shape of foreigners, and the distance between the two pupils of Chinese adults is mostly smaller than the optical center distance of imported large frame glasses, wearing these glasses will greatly increase the burden of eye adjustment function and damage vision. As for the cheap sunglasses sold on street stalls, the production is very rough, the thickness of the lenses is uneven, the color is also uneven, and the optical performance is poor. Wearing them can easily cause discomfort such as headaches, eye pain, fatigue, etc. Frequently wearing these low-quality sunglasses can easily lead to decreased vision; The second is to avoid wearing large sunglasses as much as possible. When wearing glasses, it is necessary to shorten the wearing time. After removing the glasses, use the palm of your hand to massage along the eye frame and both sides of the nose 10-20 times. Once the comprehensive symptoms of wearing glasses appear, it should be stopped. And take vitamin B1, B6, AD pills, local hot compress, physiotherapy, acupuncture and moxibustion, massage, etc. Patients with mild symptoms generally stop wearing glasses for 2-4 weeks before gradually disappearing. Those with severe symptoms should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in a timely manner.
