Are Your Sunglasses Really Useful?
We have previously recommended many types of sunglasses and introduced methods for distinguishing polarized sunglasses, but there are still many people who say that the sunglasses they choose do not seem to block ultraviolet rays and have little protective effect on the eyes. Is there a problem with sunglasses? Are the sunglasses I bought really useful?
1.First, observe the lenses for scratches, impurities, bubbles, and stripes, and check the outer packaging of sunglasses. Regular sunglasses should be labeled with the product name, color, diameter, quality level, manufacturer name, and trademark. Only sunglasses with UVA, UVB, and CE markings on the mirror surface or hanging label can ensure a certain level of UV resistance.
2.You should try it on to see if you feel dizzy or headache. There are some myopic sunglasses with degree markings on the market now, and for ordinary consumers, it is best not to choose these sunglasses with degree markings.
3. Hold the two corners of the sunglasses in your hand towards the fluorescent lamp, and let the reflective strip on the mirror surface roll smoothly. If you find that the reflection of the fluorescent lamp on the mirror surface is wavy or twisted, it indicates that the lens is not flat, and such a mirror surface can damage your vision.
4.The lenses should be flat and have high transparency. The materials used for sunglasses are glass and resin, and the best sunglasses should use polarized lenses.
5.The color of sunglasses should not only be matched according to one's skin color, facial shape, and clothing, but also be chosen according to the place of entry and exit. Generally speaking, the filtering effect of black, brown, and gray is good; Grey lenses can evenly absorb any color spectrum, and the scenery seen after wearing will only darken without significant color difference; Brown lenses can filter out a large amount of blue light, improve visual contrast and clarity, and are particularly effective when worn in severe air pollution or foggy conditions.
6.Wearing sunglasses not only reduces strong light stimulation and makes the eyes comfortable, but also the main purpose is to prevent UV damage to the eyes. The color of the lenses and whether they are UV resistant are two different things. Even if the color of the lenses is deep, it may not be effective in preventing UV, so it is important to choose lenses labeled with UV resistant function. Usually, the UV index of sunglasses ranges from 96% to 98%.
7.Generally, regular eyewear stores have instruments to test the resistance of sunglasses to ultraviolet radiation. Through this test, one can determine whether the glasses in hand are helpful for eye health.
