PU Leather VS PVC Leather

PU leather is more complex in manufacturing process than PVC leather. Due to the fact that the PU base fabric is a canvas PU material with good tensile strength, it can not only be coated on top of the base fabric, but also be included in the middle to prevent the presence of the base fabric from being seen from outside.

PU leather has better physical properties than PVC leather, including resistance to twists and turns, good softness, high tensile strength, and breathability (PVC does not). The pattern of PVC leather is formed by hot pressing steel pattern rollers. The pattern of PU leather is a type of patterned paper that is first hot pressed onto the surface of the semi-finished leather, waiting for it to cool down before separating the paper leather for surface treatment.

The price of PU leather is more than twice that of PVC leather, and the price of PU leather with certain special requirements is 2-3 times higher than that of PVC leather. The pattern paper required for PU leather can only be scrapped after 4-5 uses. The service life of patterned rollers is long, so the cost of PU leather is higher than that of PVC leather.

The difference between PU and PVC is relatively easy. From the corners, the bottom fabric of PU is much thicker than that of PVC, and there are also differences in texture. PU has a softer texture. PVC has a harder texture. It can also be burned with fire, and the taste of PU is much lighter than that of PVC.

PVC leather and PU leather have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on your needs and usage scenarios.

1. PVC leather is cheap, has good wear resistance, and waterproof performance, but it is not breathable, has poor elasticity, and has poor cold resistance.

2. PU leather has a soft feel, good texture, good wear resistance, good breathability, good elasticity, and good cold resistance, but its price is relatively high and it is easily corroded by chemicals.

Overall, if you pursue product comfort, breathability, and texture, it is recommended to choose PU material. If you need a more cost-effective option and have higher requirements for product circulation and easy cleaning, you can choose PVC material.

Thanks for time waiting.
