Real evaluation of blue light resistant glasses for a computer office worker
As a member of the office community, it is no exaggeration to say that my eyes are focused on the computer for at least 8 hours a day, and my eyes are constantly sore, dry, and covered in red blood. In order to save my eyes from earning money and eating, I have spared no effort to spend a lot of money trying various methods:
I have tried various brands of eye drops and artificial tears both domestically and internationally, but the results are either too irritating to the eyes and easy to develop dependence, or too mild and ineffective; Wearing a steam mask has a certain soothing effect, but it still looks the same after removing it. Recently, there was a news that wearing a steam mask burned my eyes when I fell asleep. It's really scary to think about it; Reducing the time spent on computers and mobile phones, this concubine really can't do it! Finally, a recognized good method by colleagues is to wear blue light resistant glasses to isolate harmful light that can cause various eye problems from the source.
There are mainly two types of common anti blue light glasses on the market: one is colorless and transparent anti blue light glasses. The principle is to coat the surface of the lens with a film that can reflect shortwave blue light, thereby achieving protective functions. In this evaluation, there are 2 glasses of this type.
There is also a type of blue light resistant glasses with light yellow lenses, which uses the principle of color permeation to infiltrate pigments into the lens material and absorb blue light. In this evaluation, the other four glasses belong to this category.
Before the evaluation, I also did a lot of homework. Firstly, we need to understand why we wear blue light resistant glasses. Because we need to prevent harmful blue light from entering our eyes from electronic products and LED lights.
Harmful blue light (high-energy shortwave blue light) can inhibit the secretion of "melatonin" in the human body, and excessive secretion of melatonin can lead to insomnia, which is also one of the reasons why we can't stop playing with our phones before going to bed at night. In addition, long-term exposure to harmful blue light in the eyes can lead to soreness, dryness, and in severe cases, it can also cause diseases such as myopia, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
But not all blue light is harmful. Natural light sources (such as sunlight and fire) also contain blue light, but it will not harm the human eye. Because the human eye has evolved for hundreds of millions of years, its adaptability to natural light is the best. The blue light in sunlight is beneficial to the human eye, promoting eye development in young children, and regulating the biological clock, mobilizing emotions and memory. Electronic products and LED lights are products that have emerged in recent decades, belonging to artificial light sources. The blue light emitted by them belongs to high-energy shortwave blue light, which is completely different from natural light.
