Myopia of adolescents
Adolescents’ myopia and younger age have become a serious social problem, and glasses have become a standard for adolescents.
In this life, children become "glasses slaves". I missed the hobby of sports, gave up the major of tall, and can't even choose the job I like.
Misunderstanding 1: The child's poor eyesight is myopia
There are also two types of low vision: physiological and pathological. 95% of the visual acuity of preschool children is not myopia but caused by hyperopia and astigmatism. Parents find that their children have eye problems and go to a professional eye hospital for examination as soon as possible.
Misunderstanding 2: Don't wear glasses too early for myopia
"Once you wear glasses, myopia will get deeper and deeper." Children with myopia will squint their eyes when looking at distant objects without glasses, which will make the development of myopia faster. Many parents think that "wear glasses early, the closer they are", and they unfoundedly refuse to correct their children with glasses.
The myopia of most adolescents is simple myopia. It starts at school age, and its degree increases with age, and it stabilizes around 18-20 years old. Therefore, myopia will have a development process, which is not caused by wearing glasses.
In addition, after wearing the glasses, you must go to the hospital for regular check-ups, and give corrective treatments according to different developments in time.
Misunderstanding three: do not distinguish between true and false myopia
The so-called "pseudo-myopia" refers to the loss of eyesight due to excessive fatigue. After mydriasis and refraction, it is mild hyperopia or no nearsightedness, which is a completely normal refractive state. Many parents give their children glasses without mydriatic refraction in the optical shop, so that false myopia can become true myopia.
The younger the child is, the more important it is to get glasses before the first time. Through mydriatic refraction, it is possible to distinguish whether myopia is true or false. Usually pseudomyopia does not need to wear glasses, and can be improved by some relaxation and adjustment methods. If it is true myopia, it indicates that the child's eye axis has grown at this time. There is currently no clinically proven reliable method for effective treatment of this type of axial myopia.
Misunderstanding 4: The more the myopia glasses are changed, the higher the degree
In addition to genetics, excessive use of eyes and unscientific use of eyes. The degree of myopia in the developmental period deepens faster, and it has nothing to do with whether to replace the glasses.
Misunderstanding 5: Myopia glasses cannot be matched too clearly
Optician glasses must be accurate, not "over-correction" or "leaving room." A higher degree is considered "over-correction", which causes the child to dizzy after wearing glasses; a lower degree "leaves room" may induce further deepening of myopia.
Misunderstanding 6: Relying on drugs and devices for treatment
In clinical practice, many parents will ask doctors whether the eye care device can treat problems such as myopia, and some people do not hesitate to "heavy money" to purchase these supplies for their children.
There is currently no cure for myopia, but in order to enable the child to develop normally physically and mentally, glasses should be worn as soon as possible, and reasonable optical correction should be carried out to help improve vision and improve the quality of life.
