What Causes Floaters? Can They Be Cured?
Floater is a common eye disease, often occurring in middle-aged and elderly people, most of the physiological manifestations, or due to inflammation, trauma and other reasons lead to vitreous turbidity, patients feel that there are floating objects in front of the blurred vision. Physiologic floaters can be improved by treatment, but most cannot be completely cured. Pathologic floaters need to be treated according to the cause, and most can be cured:
1. Physiologic floater: aging, congenital dysplasia, myopia and other factors may cause floater, which may be related to the turbidity or liquefaction of the vitreous body caused by various reasons, and the deformation and aggregation of collagen fibers in the fundus. Generally, vision is not affected, special treatment is not required, or symptoms can be improved by corresponding treatment, but usually cannot be cured.
3. Retinopathy: retinal hiatus or retinal detachment and other diseases can make floaters blurred vision symptoms appear rapidly. Timely surgical treatment can effectively improve symptoms and may be cured, but not timely treatment may cause more serious consequences; Floaters can also appear in retinal vein occlusion caused by diabetic retinopathy, hypertension and hyperlipidemia, etc. Therefore, floaters should be treated according to the primary disease, and blood sugar, blood pressure and blood lipids should be actively controlled. Floaters can be improved by treatment. However, floaters are usually not easy to be cured as the primary disease is not easy to cure.
