Symptoms of Wearing Unsuitable Contact Lenses
1.Features of wearing tight lenses
There is only a little or no movement when blinking. The patient has little lag or slow sliding movement when looking up. The center is usually well positioned, and the initial wear is very comfortable. After blinking, the keratometer reflected the target, the fundus mirror reflection and the vision were all the best. Later, tightening the mirror will be accompanied by burning like feeling, but this feeling will also occur in other situations, such as side effects of preservatives, insufficient frequency of dry eyes and blinking, or incomplete blinking. Continued wearing will lead to congestion of blood vessels around the cornea, conjunctiva and limbus. In severe cases, removal of the lens may leave a conjunctival depression. Some lenses will become tight after wearing for several months. The solution is to try to wear flat, small diameter or thin lenses, or lenses with edge radians specially adapted to the changes of sclera radian.
2.Features of wearing loose lenses
When the patient blinks, the movement is too large and the sliding movement is too fast. Poor center positioning unless the diameter is large. The discomfort will be improved as the patient gradually tolerates it and the lenses become tighter. If the lens is too flat, the edge will turn up, extrude from the eyes, or bubble at the edge. After blinking, when the lens is slightly dry and tight, observe the sight mark in the keratometer. This is a method to roughly measure the lens fit flatness. When the center is clear, the edge will be deformed. It can also be observed with eyeground lens. Solution: Try adding some curvature lenses to increase the overall diameter. Reduce the edge curvature or the surrounding area.
3.Wear lenses with high position
The lens with too high wearing position may be caused by too tight upper eyelid. If the cornea is completely covered, it is acceptable. Because it is comfortable at this time, and the vision is not affected. The solution is: use thinner and flatter lenses, or use larger diameter lenses to improve the center positioning; Increase the radius of curvature of the light zone to maintain clinical equivalence.
4.Wear the lens at a lower position
This kind of centering lens positioning may be caused by the lens being too small, flat or ultra-thin, or by the pressure of the eyelid; This condition is often accompanied by eyelid sensitivity. Use large diameter lenses instead of conventional ones, especially when the lens movement is large; However, for the height or astigmatic lens, it may be more appropriate to avoid eccentric center positioning and stabilize vision.
