Why Are High-End Sunglasses Not Polarized?

Wearing sunglasses has become a popular trend in the hot and rainy summer climate. However, in the market, most sunglasses can choose polarized lenses, but high-end sunglasses almost do not choose polarized lenses. So, why are high-end sunglasses not polarized?

Firstly, polarizing lenses may affect visual effects and color restoration. Polarizing lenses can indeed reduce reflection, providing better clarity and color reproduction. However, in some cases, polarizing lenses can darken the entire light and cause color changes, affecting the user experience. And high-end sunglasses brands emphasize comfort and aesthetics, so they pay more attention to preserving visual effects and color reproduction.

Secondly, the filtering range of polarizing lenses is relatively small. Polarization "refers to the vibration of light in a specific direction during propagation, and the polarizing lens eliminates reflection by filtering light perpendicular to that direction. This means that if the eyes or light source deviate from this direction, it will affect the working effect of the polarizing lens. This situation often occurs during outdoor sports, driving, or tourism, which affects the protective effect.

Finally, price is also a factor. The production cost of polarizing lenses is relatively high, resulting in a correspondingly high selling price. High end sunglasses brands should focus on the comfort, aesthetics, and quality of their products. The increase in cost does not significantly improve the user experience and aesthetics, so they do not often choose polarized lenses.
