Finding the Perfect Sunglasses for You

Date:2024.01.27   Views:822

As the days get longer, the weather gets warmer, and the sun gets brighter, nothing complements your summer wardrobe quite like a pair of sunglasses. Sunglasses are a great way to protect your eyes from the sun’s rays and UV light. Sunglasses can also help correct blurred vision when you choose a pair of reading sunglasses. As a bonus, a perfect pair of sunglasses will help you stay stylish all summer long.

There’s a lot to consider when finding the perfect pair of sunglasses. You have to find the right style to complement your face shape and help you feel confident, you have to pick out a color that complements your wardrobe and style, and you have to choose the best sunglass lenses to fit your needs.

Determine the Best Sunglass Shape

The first step to finding the perfect pair of sunglasses is finding a frame shape. There’s a lot of styles to choose from. From aviator frames to cat eye to the classic rectangular frame, the options are endless. It’s important to choose a sunglasses shape that complements your face shape and gives you a boost of confidence.

Know Your Face Shape

If you aren’t sure what kind of face shape you have, it’s alright. We’ve got some helpful tools for figuring out what shape your face is so you can choose the best frame shape.

There are five basic face shapes: square, heart, oval, round, and diamond. There are a few ways to learn what kind of face shape you have. You can ask a family member or friend their opinion on your face shape or look in the mirror and take a look for yourself. You can also use a dry erase marker or a little bit of soap to trace your face in the mirror. Whatever the resulting shape most closely resembles is likely your face shape.

It’s important to remember that no two faces are exactly the same shape. While most faces fall into these basic five categories, there are some that are more pear-shaped and others that are triangle-shaped. More than  130 different aspects of DNA and genetics come together to influence face shape, so don’t be discouraged if it takes a few try-on sessions to find frames you feel confident in!

For a Square-Shaped Face

If you have a square-shaped face, aim to find glasses that soften out your features with smooth, rounded edges. Oval glasses or glasses with rounded frames are a great option for softening out these strong features. If you like a bold look but still want to soften out your features, opt for aviator glasses or cat eye frames. You can also use a rimless style to make your look extra soft.

Don’t use square or rectangular glasses, as these can make your features harsher instead of softening them!

For a Heart-Shaped Face

If you’ve got a heart-shaped face, cat-eye glasses or square glasses will complement your features the best. Heart-shaped faces are both soft and hard with rigid features like a pointed chin and softer features like a wide forehead. So, using cat eye or rectangular glasses can help balance this shape out and complement your face.

For an Oval Face

If you have an oval face, your face is long, and your forehead and chin are curved with softer features. You’re the exact opposite of the rigid, square-shaped features, so square-shaped glasses will compliment your face well. Consider using oversized frames or a style that is wider around your eyes to balance your face shape well. Other frame shapes that will complement an oval face are cat eyeaviator, rectangle, round, and square.

For a Round Face

If you’ve got a round face, the same general guidelines apply. You want a frame style that will compliment your softer features with more angles and edges, so look for rectangular frames, square frames, or even a pair of our club shape frames

For A Diamond-Shaped Face

The frames that complement a diamond-shaped face the most are browline frames, round frames, and oval frames. If you have a diamond-shaped face, you have softer edges. It’s a good idea to add dimension and softness to these edges by choosing a rounder-style frame.

Pick Your Color

After you pick what frame shape you want, it’s time to pick your frame color! Here are a few of our favorite tips for picking what color sunglasses to wear all year long:

  • First, find your skin’s undertones. These are the colors underneath your skin color that determine if you have cool or warm undertones.

  • If you have cool undertones, you will likely be able to see your veins pop out in vivid blues or greens. If you have warm undertones, your veins may be harder to find and more neutral. Cool undertones also look best with silver jewelry, while warm undertones look best with gold.

  • Once you determine your skin’s undertones, you can find the colors that go best with your skin! If you have cool undertones, wear blues, purples, silver, or emerald greens. If your undertones are warmer, you’ll probably look best in earthy tones like tortoise, brown, blue and light green.

  • If you aren’t sure what your undertones are or just prefer to, you can wear more neutral color glasses.

  • Pick colors that go with your wardrobe! You want your sunglasses to match what you’ll be wearing. If your closet is mostly full of floral sundresses and bright bikinis, find sunglasses to match! If it’s full of earth-toned classic pieces or neutral colors, find frames to complement your style.
